To start the tour, we will pick you up directly from your hotel in a comfortable air-conditioned van. Our journey will take us on a scenic 2.5-hour drive across the rustic Costa Rican back roads, passing through gorgeous mountains and quaint villages until we reach the stunning farm located in Tenorio where our adventure begins.
On the farm, you’ll gain knowledge not only about cocoa but also about botany and our traditional way of processing sugar cane. The tropical rainforest is home to over a thousand species of plants, each serving various purposes. As you explore the farm, our knowledgeable guides will teach you about the different plants and their importance in both the local ecosystem and the chocolate-making process. After a brief 10-minute hike from the parking lot down to the base, you’ll be amazed by its beauty and the inviting, refreshing water that will surely tempt you for a swim.
As the tour progresses, you may work up an appetite. Don’t worry, we’ve got that covered too! We’ll introduce you to our local dish called Casado. This traditional Costa Rican meal consists of rice, beans, plantains, salad, and your choice of protein, such as fish, chicken, or beef.
